Because businesses now have the majority of their valuable data on their network, and the fact that their networks are now all connected to the internet, designing a network is a much more complex problem than it was even 5 years ago. Those small business people that leave this task to a lay person are taking their business life into their own hands. With hackers waiting to find any opening at all on a network so they can penetrate and possible have a way in and out of your local network without ever being noticed. This is the most problematic type of exploitation because it can go on for long periods and involve many customers data and employee data as well.

Introducing the Technology Upgrade Program
As announced on December 6, 2005, Microsoft is pleased to offer the Technology Upgrade Program. The program provides eligible customers with a copy of the Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2 Upgrade Media Kit if they purchase Windows Small Business Server 2003 with SP1 (Standard or Premium Edition) preinstalled on a new server from an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) or System Builder during the eligibility period (see dates below).
